Mission
To help people who keep small living worlds — aquariums, ponds, paludariums, terrariums — notice what is changing early, and understand it before they act. Not to automate the ecosystem: to make its owner a more observant, more confident caretaker.
Origins: Ajinomatrix and BioSphere
BioSensei is a project of Ajinomatrix, a research and technology company in Rebecq, Belgium. It was born in the Ajinomatrix BioSphere laboratory, where we keep and monitor our own biotopes — among them a 175 L paludarium with aquatic and land zones and a bearded-dragon terrarium — several of them fed by live probes. You can take a short video look inside Haverim, the villa that hosts the lab. The same testbed gave rise to BioSensei SysOps, a separate professional operations application.
The founder
François Gabriel Wayenberg
Founder & CEO, Ajinomatrix
François Gabriel Wayenberg is the Founder & CEO of Ajinomatrix — an independent inventor, entrepreneur and researcher working on sensory intelligence, environmental observation and evidence-based decision support. He is a graduate of the Founder Institute (Berlin) and collaborates with the IRIDIA–CODE laboratory of the Université libre de Bruxelles as an industrial partner.
Field-development philosophy
We build against real tanks, not demos. Each feature is used on the BioSphere ecosystems before it ships, and outside keepers test it in their own homes. Our first external test, a family turtle paludarium in February 2026, taught us that keepers want plain-language answers to “are my animals doing well?” more than dashboards — that feedback now drives the roadmap.
Measurement and evidence principles
- Every value keeps its origin: typed by hand, or sent by a named probe.
- Every sensor value carries a freshness state — live, recent, stale, offline or suspect. An old value is never shown as current.
- Zero is a real measurement, not missing data.
- A single anomalous reading is a reason to re-test, not to dose. Healthy, feeding animals are evidence too.
- Your records are yours: export to CSV or mirror to your own Google Sheet at any time.
Scope and limits of AI interpretation
Dr BioSensei weighs your measurements, notes and history and says what looks confirmed, probable or doubtful. It can be wrong, it cannot see your animals unless you describe or photograph them, and it does not replace a qualified vet, a water-testing laboratory or your own judgement. The Vet tab organises symptoms; it does not diagnose.
